Southampton Inspire Academic Society

“INSPIRE is a UK-wide initiative, driven by the Academy of Medical Sciences, to engage medical and dental undergraduates with research. The University of Southampton is pleased to support the INSPIRE programme and to encourage all of our medical students to learn more about research and the impact that this has on improving clinical care.”

Professor Cameron, former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine

Southampton INSPIRE Academic Society (SIAS) was formed when Southampton INSPIRE merged with the Academic Society to form what is now the one of the largest and most active societies within MedSoc.

The main aims of the society are to promote and assist in student research, and to support students pursuing careers in research and academia. Look out for our events throughout the year, and if you have an interest in research don't hesitate to get in touch!

We hold a variety of regular and one-off events including: Journal clubs; research taster sessions; opportunities to present research; and our annual national conference.

We also run the highly popular 1st and 2nd year revision sessions throughout the year.
